I have to admit, 2012 was a trying year for my family.  It seemed like every time you fixed one vehicle 1 more broke down.....Paid off one bill and 2 more popped up...every time we stood up we were knocked back down to our knees!

I know this wasn't completely the case, but boy it sure felt that way.  It was too easy to let the trials outweigh the good things that did happen.  When I really think about it.....there are many good things that happened in my families life!  

• A son graduating from high school
• Another starting high school
• Our oldest becoming a United States Marine 
• Our youngest potty trained
• New drivers in the family 
• Engagements

These are just a few of the good things in 2012; But the worst part....when I looked back on the year these wonderful moments are not what popped into my head.  I truly had to think about what was good about 2012.  HOW SAD IS THAT?!

Then I saw this wonderful idea on Pinterest.  Starting January 1st, have an empty jar in the house (I'm making it a main focal point in mine).  Every time there is a "good moment" write it down and place in the jar.  You could even put your kids art, a concert/movie ticket, nice quote or even something to remember a trip by.  Then, at the end of the year empty the good moments jar so you can reflect on all the great things that happened in that year!

I think this is the awesome!  What a great way to keep life in perspective!

NEW YEARS EVE PARTY IDEAS: KEEP THE KIDS BUSY!

I was browsing Pinterest for some new New Years Eve Party Ideas and found this one.

Great idea for the kiddo's to keep them busy all night long!

Have a balloon for every hour that the kids can pop.  

Each balloon be filled with candy or an activity for them to do to pass the time 

until the next hour!

WE COOK: MISSISSIPPI POT ROAST! A MUST TRY!

I had seen this recipe on Pinterest of course...but honestly didn't think it sounded very good.

Until I had a friend tel me she had tried it and now wouldn't cook a roast any other way!

Needless to say I had to give it a chance.  

I'm here to say YES, it was amazing....great flavor....and a must try!

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 packet of Au Jus seasoning
• 1 packet of Ranch Dressing seasoning
• 1 stick of butter
• 5 pepperoncini peppers
• 3-4 lb Beef roast

DIRECTIONS:

• Heat enough oil to coat the bottom of a pan, brown all sides of the beef roast.
• Place the browned roast into a crock pot
• Place all the ingredients into the pot.  
• DO NOT ADD ANY ADDITIONAL WATER!!
• Cook on low for 7-8 hours

*I cooked my in a pressure cooker for 1 hour....turned out amazing!!

WE COOK: YOGURT DROPS!

Yogurt drops!

I love it, what a fun way for the kiddos to enjoy yogurt!

*Put yogurt in a bag

*Cut the tip off the bag

*Make drops of yogurt on a cookie sheet

*stick in the freezer for about an hour

*ENJOY!

To extend the life of your mascara add a few drops of eye solution into the 

mascara container, insert the want and stir to combine.

*NOTE*

Old makeup is old makeup!  

I personally would only do this once or twice; after that just toss it....

Fill balloons with water and freeze them.

Use the ice balloons to chill beverages!

This would last much longer than loose ice would.  Not to mention much more frugal!

It would be fun to make the ice balloons match the party colors!

FYI - No water balloon fights until the ice balls are thawed!
