WE COOK: BANANA S'MORES

Banana S'mores are a fun treat to make all year long.
Easy to do camping, on the grill or in the oven.

It has been so cold lately, we did the oven version this time around!
They smell so good, and of course taste delish!!

STEP 1:
Peel & slice a banana in half lengthwise.  Place on a sheet of foil.

STEP 2:
Fill the banana with marshmallows, chocolate chips & crumbled graham crackers
(you can also use cookies or cereal.  We like Golden Grahams or Cap n' Crunch)

STEP 3:
Wrap the banana up in the foil sheet.  Place near the fire, on the grill or in an
350 degree oven for about 10 minutes.
It doesn't take long to melt all the goodies together!

ENJOY!!!

SIMPLIFY MY LIFE: HOMEMADE CUSTOM CUPCAKE LINERS!

The plain paper cupcake holders are always the ones that we
are getting cheap or free; but they are so boring!!

Here is a simple way to make them match any party!

In a shallow dish, put a few drops of food coloring
and enough water to go up the sides of the liners.
(add more or less water depending on how far you want the color to go on the liners)

FUN WITH KIDS: LET THE KIDDOS HELP...THEY CAN MAKE IT PERFECT!

For my daughters 3rd birthday we had a Lion King Party.
For those of you that know me personally you know I LOVE LOVE LOVE parties....Especially Birthdays!

I planned to make these cute pretzel sticks all perfectly painted just like the pictures.  Lets just say I quickly gave up and about threw this mold in the trash.

Instead, I gave the mold to my daughter, to keep her occupied so I could finish the cupcakes.  Needless to say, they turned out adorable & ended up being my favorite part!

Of course the pretzel sticks where FREE from earlier sales.
I picked up the mold & candy melts at Michael's with
40% off coupons.
I recommend buying the Wilton Colored Candy Melts.  Chocolate is very fragile and if you are not using oil based food dye the chocolate will quickly clump up & separate!

Emma wanted to help so bad, so painting was a perfect task for her.  We melted the colored candy melts and let her go at it.

I think they turned out adorable & yes PERFECT!
I plan to let her do this every year!
We call it Art by Emma!

Moral of the story:
Sometimes you just have to let go and let "perfect" shine through the way it is intended!

ATTENTION TEACHERS: THIS CRAFT IS FOR YOU!! A MUST DO!!

I just love this idea!!
If you are a teacher of little ones this would be a great project to do at
the beginning of the school year, to hang on your front door!!

Here's what you need:
~a round pizza pan
~a length of ribbon for hanging
~a felt circle cut to fit the back of the pizza pan
~magnetic letters
~craft foam cut into smallish rectangles big enough for a child's handprint
~paint
~paint brush
~sharpie
~hot glue gun

Here's what you do:
1)  Use hot glue gun to affix ribbon to back of pizza pan.  Cover with felt circle using hot glue. (I did this step at home.)

2)  Paint child's hand and press onto precut craft foam rectangles.  Let dry.  Write child's name on front side of handprint.  Cut out.  (I also wrote each child's name on the back of the foam before we did their handprints.  This helped me keep track of the little rectangles in the midst of the chaos.)

3)  Use hot glue to place the hands around the rim of the pizza pan like a wreath.

4)  Put magnetic letters on to spell whatever you want.

5)  I also hot glued a poem about handprints onto the back of the wreath.  The last line is my favorite:
These children, your students are reaching big goals
because of the handprint that you’ve left on their souls.

Done!

FUN WITH KIDS: TURN TOILET PAPER ROLLS INTO PARTY FAVORS!

I showed you HERE how I use toilet paper rolls to keep
the cords on appliances and my hair irons under control!
So, I was excited to see this very cheap way to make party favors for any occasion!
CHECK THIS OUT!
Fold in one side of the end.
Then fold in the other side. Repeat on other end.
Open back up and give the toilet paper  roll a bit of paint. Be careful to not use too much paint if your toilet paper roll is extra thin.
Give it a nice shine with a light coat of clear spray paint.
Fill with candy and treats, fold back ends.

Thanks for the great idea Skip To My Lou!!
