CLIP THAT TIP: WHY I SHOP RITE AID ON RAIN CHECKS TO SAVE MONEY!!
I love to shop Rite Aid on Rain Checks, it is my preferred way to shop there!
Rite Aid is unlike any other store.
This is why they are my favorite drugstore!
By shopping with Rain checks I get the following benefits that no other store offers:
- I don't have to be at the store first thing Sunday morning to get the deal or miss out
- If I don't make it to the store until the last day of the sale no big deal!
- Rite Aid's Rain Checks honor the sale price & the +Up Reward being offered
- I can shop a week behind everyone which means I don't have to fight the rush for the current deals.
- I have less OOP (out of pocket) by shopping on Rain Checks
How to get a Rain Check:
Very simple!
- Find a cashier and let them know you need a rain check. They will grab the current ad to verify the offer.
- Fill out a cute white Rain Check form
- List the quantity you are wanting & the +Up Reward offer available
- I personally clip the offer out of the current ad and staple it to the Rain Check so there is no confusion of the offer being claimed on the rain check.
- I then paper clip or even staple the coupons I will need to go with the rain check so I don't lose them.
Here is a perfect example:
Last week there was a great deal on Edge Shaving Gel. Best we have seen in a long time. I didn't get to Rite Aid until Wednesday.
Of course Rite Aid was sold out, which I expected....no big deal. I got a rain check for the limit allowed and today I picked up my 4 Edge Shaving Gel and only paid less OOP than I would have if I had gotten the deal last week when it was valid.
How it Works:
(Last weeks deal: I would have had $4.58 OOP and then received $4 in +Up's after I paid.)
Buy 4 Edge Shaving Gel $3.29 - Buy 1, Get $2 +Up Reward (limit 4)
Use (2) $2/2 Edge Shaving Gel SS 1/13
Pay $9.16, Get (4) $2 +Up
Final Price: $.29 each WYB 4
When you redeem a rain check that has a +Up the cashier automatically takes off the +Up Reward before you pay because that is the only way they can honor an old +Up.
Buy 4 dge Shaving Gel $3.29
=$13.16 before coupons & +Up Reward
-$4.00 - Use (2) $2/2 Edge Shaving Gel SS 1/13
-$8.00 - Redeem Rain Check of Buy 1 Edge, Get $2 +Up Reward (limit 4)
Pay: $1.16 ($.29 each)
- So by shopping on rain checks I saved $8.00 OOP of my weekly budget!!
- That is $8 that is not tied up in +Up Rewards which limits where I can spend the money
- For me some weeks I might need that $8 for Albertsons! I don't want to have to borrow $8 from another week!

CLIP THAT TIP: FREEZE BUTTERMILK CUBES
This is such a great idea!
I don't use buttermilk very often, so it never fails when I find a recipe I want to try
that calls for buttermilk; I purchase a container of buttermilk (of course it only comes in one size LARGE) and only use a very small amount. Buttermilk doesn't last very long even if you keep it in the freezer. Needless to say when the next time I want to make a recipe with buttermilk the container is no long good and I start the expensive process all over again!
Homestead Revival has came up with a brilliant idea....FREEZE IT!
Not just sticking the powder in the freezer, but making it and freezing it in an ice cube tray. This gives you perfect 2 tablespoon portions for your recipes.
A few hours later, I was in the frozen buttermilk business.
Bagged up in freezer bags, these should stay fresh for up to 3 months (be sure to date your bags). Even if I don't use them all, I can thaw the extras at the last minute and feed it to the chickens.
I decided I should thaw some and make sure it worked. So I pulled out a cube and let it come to room temperature.
Other than a few ice crystals, it seemed fine. Tasted the same. A purest probably would not approve, but until I have my own source again for making raw, cultured dairy products, this was the next best thing and the most frugal option I could come up with.

CLIP THAT TIP: 2 USES FOR PANT HANGERS!
I don't even want to count how many of these pant hangers I have thrown away over
the years....now I wish I had every one of them!
Here are 2 simple uses for those hangers I use to think I didn't have a use for:
Make it easier to view a recipe.
Keeping it right at face level makes it much easier to keep track of where I am.
Not to mention it keeps my recipe safe from the mess I will make!
Cut the clips off the hanger and use them to keep bags closed tight.
Hmmm....and to think I use to buy clips for this purpose!

CLIP THAT TIP: CUT CALORIES IN A CAKE BY 119 CALORIES!!
Yesterday Dr. Oz had The Hungry Girl on his show.
She had some wonderful tips of how to cut down the calories yet eating more food.
I really enjoyed this tip for cakes; sweets are my weakness! Yet I hate the thought of
"Diet Food"
In place of all the egg, oil and sometime butter that a boxed cake mix want you to add.....
Just add a can of Club Soda!
That's it, just the box of cake mix + (1) 12oz can of Club Soda.
Your cake will still be moist and full of flavor yet look at the calorie difference:
Per serving:
Traditional prepared boxed cake: 290 calories
Hungry Girl prepared boxed cake: 171 calories
I'M IN!

PARTY IDEA: CUPCAKE LINERS ARE NOT JUST FOR CUPCAKES!
What a great idea for an outdoor party.
Use cupcake liners to cover your beverages so bugs and outdoor things
don't get into your glass!
Cupcake liners come in just about every print & color so it would be easy
to make them fit right in with your party decor!
