Ham & Bean Soup with Corn Bread & Honey Butter $6.44 ( $1.07 a serving!)

Price Breakdown:

• 2lb of Great Northern Beans $1.78 ($.89 lb)
• 2lbs Ham, cubed $3.96 ($1.98 lb average price)
• 1 Onion, diced $.20
• Jiffy Cornbread Mix $.50

DIRECTIONS:

• Place beans, ham & half the onion (diced) into a large crockpot.
• Put enough water to submerge the ham and beans
• Cover and let cook for about 8 hours on medium heat.
• Season to taste.  I like to add salt, peper and garlic to my beans

HONEY BUTTER:

*in a small bowl, mix butter or margarine with honey until desired sweetness
