FUN WITH KIDS: COLORED RICE BOX!

We had some fun this weekend making a colorful sand rice box

Of course this took more time to make than just dumping sand.....but the cost difference is huge!
Rice is cheap......Sand is not!
Of course, you do not have to make as many colors as we did, but it was fun letting my daughter
spout off her colors like a pro...so I just kept making them!

WHAT YOU NEED:
Baggies (i used sandwich size ziplocs)
Food Coloring
Rubbing Alcohol
(Keeps the rice from getting sticky & helps the color dry)
Rice...lots of rice

In a ziploc bag put 2 tsp. of rubbing alcohol, about 20 drops of food coloring
(depending on how vibrant you want the color) & 1 1/2 of rice

Zip the bag shut, getting all the air out.
Let the kids squish it around until all the rice is colored.

(if you want the color more vibrant just as more food coloring)
Open the bag to let fully dry.

The rice dries rather quickly.  Once dried, put into a container to play in.
I put ours in a long under the bed container so it was easy to store away, yet portable enough to take with us to any room or place.

As you can see my daughter was very excited to dig in!
